HERIcraft

HERIcraft utilises Minecraft to engage children and young adults in collaborative design workshops for local community initiatives. The tool creates a virtual environment from open-source geospatial data, encouraging participation through multiplayer gameplay facilitated by an online server.

Video tutorials for this tool are available in
English, Italian and Greek.

Target

The stakeholder focus includes the local community and a designated project team, targeting children aged 7 to 18 and young adults aged 19 to 25.

Resources needed

Enabling conditions include server hosting through a third-party service and licenses for participants, with a cost associated. On-site events require laptops or tablets.Support resources, including tutorials and documentation, will be available in English, with translations dependent on partner availability.

Facilitators need basic computer-related skills.Knowledge of NEB and SDG goals is not required for users.

Steps to utlize the tool

Software

Software - Purchase licenses at minecraft.net (the number depends on how the activity will be held)

Hardware

Preparation of laptops/mobile/tablets to access the game and the server (tutorial video will be provided)

Activity

Access the HeritACT toolkit page with info about HERIcraft (server ip address, tutorial)

Invite participants and provide the registration form along with the consent form (must be signed by the parents in case of minors)
